So today I'd like to talk about Doctor Who. A lot of you guys have probably heard of this BBC sci-fi series. The show follows the adventures of a Time Lord of the planet Galifrey (a humanoid alien) by the name of the Doctor who travels through all of space and time in a blue police telephone box called the T.A.R.D.I.S. (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) that's bigger on the inside. He has a tool called a sonic screwdriver that can do pretty much anything but it doesn't have a wood setting (thus it does not work on wood) and he usually travels with a young female companion. Together, they fight evil throughout the whole of reality and beyond, saving many civilizations across the galaxies. Oh, and did I mention that he can regenerate when he is about to die? He's also over a thousand years old!
So basically, that's Doctor Who in a nutshell. It is in my opinion one of the BEST shows ever, along with Sherlock (more to come on that as well). Although you do have to understand that a lot of your favorite characters will probably either die, forget, or get stuck in a parallel world...that however has to do with the fact that the producer Steven Moffat is a psycopath bent on destroying the will of his viewers...just a heads up.

TO WATCH:
There are a couple ways to go about this. If you want to start from the beginning (which I would highly suggest), Netflix is wonderful! However, Netflix doesn't have the current season (series 7 part II is currently halfway over), so you will probably want to then head on over to www.watch-tvseries.net to get yourself all caught up. On this sight, you can watch new episodes for free. Usually they have new Doctor Who up within a day of it first being aired. TAKE NOTE: THIS WEBSITE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST DISCOVERIES I'VE EVER MADE. Special thanks to my friend Tiny T for giving me this info. Without him, I would be a very depressed, confused person due to the waiting and then missing all of series 7 part I. So thanks for that Tiny :) Anyways, when you get caught up, you can also watch them as they air in your countries on your BBC channel every Doctor Who Saturday!
OTHER THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
~Extreme fans of the show (such as myself) are known to the rest of the world as Whovians. We are obviously very intelligent, well-diversed indivuals, as well as being more than a bit crazed.
~David Tennant's (10) hair.
~Bowties are cool.
~Among the Doctor's worst enemies are the daleks, the cybermen, weeping angels, the Silence, and the Time Lords themselves, along with his arch nemesis the Master.
~Steven Moffat is a very evil man.
~People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff.
~DON'T BLINK.
~If you find you have random tally marks all over your body one day, be very alarmed.
~Fezzes are cool.
HISTORY:
Currently, the 11th incarnation of the Doctor is played by Matt Smith. Ironically, he is the youngest person to play the Doctor, bu the oldest version of the Doctor while the oldest person to play the Doctor was the youngest version of the Doctor. Doctor Who is divided into two different categories: Classic and Revived (also referred to as New Age or the Reboot). Believe it or not, Doctor Who has been around for almost 50 years (celebrating 50 years this November actually). It ran continuously from 1963 to 1989, with a television film in 1996. Then in March of 2005, BBC rebooted the series with the 9th Doctor (played by Christopher Eccleston), the beginning of a new generation of Doctor Who fans. After just one season, Eccleston was replaced by the brilliant David Tennanat, playing the 10th Doctor for 5 years. Then in 2010, Matt Smith became the next Doctor (11).
As for the companions, the reboots are as follows:
~Rose Tyler (played by Billie Piper) travels with 9 and 10 first appearing in the very first episode of the reboot in 2005 ("Rose"). She is a companion for 2 seasons.
~Martha Jones (played by Freema Agyeman) first appears in "Smith and Jones", first aired in 2007 at the beginning of series 3. She remains a companion for only one season with the 10th Doctor.
~Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) actually first appears in the 2006 Christmas special "Runaway Bride" with the 10th Doctor. Later, she becomes a regular companion at the beginning of series 4 in "Partners in Crime". She would remaina companion until the end of series 4.
~Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) becomes the next companion at the beginning of season 5, marking the introduction of the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith). She stays for 2 seasons, joined by her fiance (and later her husband) Rory Williams partway through season 5 in "Vampires in Venice". Amy and Rory stay with the Doctor through episode 5 of season 7.
~Clara Oswin Oswald (Jenna-Louise Coleman) first appears in "Asylum of the Daleks", the first episode of the current series 7, as the sole survivor of Starship Alaska after crashing on the planet that the Daleks send the insane, or the mistakes. She appears again a few episodes later during the 2012 Christmas special, "The Snowmen" this time as a governess/barmaid in
Victorian London. In the very next episode, Clara is a nanny in current-day London. This is where she becomes an official companion of the Doctor.
Additional recurring guests include Professor River Song (Alex Kingston), Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), Mickey "Rickey" Smith (Noel Clarke), and Sarah Jane Smith, an earlier companion from Classic Doctor Who (played by Elisabeth Sladin).
Hopefully I didn't include any huge spoilers (I don't think I did...). I HIGHLY suggest you give it a try if you haven't already. You won't regret it :D
